Senior Business Analyst

Contribute to large-scale government transformation initiatives with a focus on regulatory change, process improvement, and safety outcomes.

A high-profile Federal Government department is seeking experienced Senior Business Analysts to support upcoming programs of work. These initiatives span multiple regulatory, safety, and legislative transformation efforts with a strong focus on delivering practical, fit-for-purpose outcomes.

The Opportunity
Ideal for a seasoned Business Analyst with a background in public sector delivery, this role offers the chance to lead critical analysis and design activities, engage closely with stakeholders, and help drive lasting business change across a range of digital and regulatory programs.

Key Details

  • Initial Term: 12-month contract
  • Extension Option: Additional 12 months + potential for second extension
  • Location: ACT-based hybrid role (minimum 3 days onsite per week)
  • Eligibility: Australian Citizens
  • Clearance: Must be able to obtain Baseline Security Clearance
  • Start Date: From 1 July 2025 (dependent on project commencement timelines)

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead end-to-end business analysis across IT and transformation projects
  • Develop detailed and high-quality documentation: business cases, requirements, process maps, use cases, and procedures
  • Analyse and redesign business processes and user journeys
  • Facilitate collaboration between stakeholders, SMEs, project teams and vendors
  • Support continuous improvement across platforms and business operations

What You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years’ experience in a Business Analyst role within government programs or projects
  • Proven technical writing skills and ability to produce business-critical documentation
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, prioritisation, and problem-solving abilities
  • Business Analyst certification (e.g. CBAP, CCBA, PMI-PBA or similar)
  • Experience supporting change driven by legislation or regulation
  • Background in safety-focused or regulatory environments (e.g. maritime, road, air)

Desirable Experience

  • Projects involving incident or emergency response management
  • Business blueprinting or non-technical outcome documentation
  • Agile delivery using Azure DevOps and facilitation of scrums
  • Experience with platforms such as Dynamics 365, SmartIQ, HTML forms, identity management, and portals
